I’m a storyteller and traveller and the two are inseparable for me. I love the oral tradition of passing knowledge through story from one generation to the next, but the written word can travel through time and space – it is a telepathy from writer to reader.
My childhood was a nomadic one. My family moved through Asia, Europe and Africa before ending up in Australia when I was nine years old. Books were my friends and companions, stalwarts in tough times. Their characters transported me through time as well as across miles, beyond galaxies and into other dimensions. I laughed and cried and shared their adventures.
When I began writing, I realised my stories weren’t just random fantasies, they had my truths woven through them. Things I felt deeply emerged magically transformed in a different world.
My series about women begins with my novel, Original Sinner. Eve is a woman we know about through accounts written by men. I wanted to give her a voice so she could tell her own story. What is it like being tempted by the devil?
It is a great honour to share my stories with you. I hope they bring you joy.
